Brave Heart

My friend Jackie and I were at the dog park yesterday and saw this...

I took the picture because I thought it was funny. You don't see a man wearing a kilt very often in Texas. But the more I think about it the more I think that this man was brave.

Brave for wearing what one might call a skirt in a conservative town like College Station.

Brave for not caring what people would think of you.

Brave for making a statement.

So way to go Mr. Kilt-Wearing-Man. Maybe you and Marc Jacobs should become friends.

As a side note, hopefully he was for real and not doing it as a joke. Otherwise I would feel stupid for sticking up for him.

Ugg Alternatives

Don't get me wrong. I love my Uggs just as much as the next girl. But, around the house, can't-get-warm kind of days, quick trip up to the store. But never...never... do I see the necessity to wear them with shorts, in 80 degree weather. Which is what I saw a couple of people doing yesterday.

Uggs are meant to be worn with jeans or some other kind of pants. So please...for my sake. Wear them with pants.

But don't forget about the plethora of other kind of boots out there that are just as warm as Uggs. Suede boots anyone?

Casual Fridays

I love the idea of casual Fridays. One day where you don't need to worry about what to wear. Just some jeans and a shirt. Pick one day a week - work week that is - and have it be your designated "casual day".

I like my causal day to be Friday, because by the end of the week I just feel blah. But yours can be any day you want.

By the way, I have those jeans in the first picture. Levi's 524. Amazing. That is all

Affordable Oxfords

One of my favorite new trends is the Oxford shoe. I have been searching and searching for the perfect pair that are still in my college student budget. I finally found some yesterday!

So I decided to share my knowledge of affordable oxfords with you.

You're welcome.

Falling into Fall.

This time of year, every morning I wake up and check the weather.

70 in the morning. 90 in the afternoon.

So I stare at my closet for half an hour hoping...praying...that something will jump out at me and say "Wear me! I'm perfect!" And yet, it never happens.

If you don't plan then a t-shirt and light cardigan looks better and better every second.

Some tips and tricks for dressing during this crazy weather:

1. LAYERS! Introduce yourself to them. They will be your new best friend. Light jacket in the morning. Bare arms in the afternoon.

2. Don't be afraid to keep some of your favorite Summer colors in your Fall wardrobe. Maybe just not like this.

3. Socks are really big for the Fall, so try out the new trend and stay tightless for as long as possible.

4. When in doubt...add a scarf.
