Adventures With Captain Kirk

Captain, how I love him so. But sometimes I think he is a little too smart for his own good. Case and point:

Today, I decided to just shoot my outfit photos in my backyard (shocker I know). But since I was wearing white tights---which by the way someone commented on negatively while at work. What is your thoughts on white tights?---I didn't want Captain to jump on my and get the dirty. So I decided to leave him inside while I did my photos. Not really thinking, I shut the sliding door and did my thang (hehe), all the while Captain is crying and jumping on the door. So I finish and try to go back in, only to find my door locked.

uhhh...what?

Captain had somehow managed to jump up and flick the lock closed, thus locking me out. Now this wouldn't have been a problem if I had just brought my phone out. But of course I didn't. So I had to stalk people on the street to find a phone to 1. call my landlord to let me in and 2. call work to tell them I would be late.

Well, not long after the landlord said they were on their way I realized oh my goodness I locked both my deadbolts, meaning that the front door couldn't be unlocked.

crap. crap. crap.

Well I ended up jimmy rigging my door to get it open before the landlord got there. Yay me! And I was only 6 minutes late to work.

It's good to know that it is freaking hard to break into my house. Burglars beware.

Teachings Of 2010

Useful things I have learned this year:
-How to use a fold-top sandwich bag
-That sprinkling a little water on rice when you're heating it up the next day will keep it from being so hard
-That if you pour the last of the cereal in a spaghetti strainer and sift, all the the gross powder will sift out and leave your bowl powder free!
-Dry shampoo.
-Why it takes 28 days for movies to come out on Red Box and Netflix
-How to make use of my closet

Unuseful things I have learned this year:
-The similarities and differences between Turin Turinbar and Beren. (If you know who these people are, you get a cookie)
-The present/past/future/all the other tenses in Spanish. (Unless of course I end up having a job that knowing these is useful, then it goes up to the top list)
-Everything from Rhetoric and Western Thought.
-Frederick Winslow Taylor
-Pretty much everything from most of my classes, seriously what can a degree in communication do for me? Want to know about spiral of silence theory? No? Didn't think so

And I'm Gonna Lasso Santa Claus

Merry Christmas y'all! I love Christmas! My family has out own little traditions that we like to do on during Christmas time, such as:

-Eating Chinese food on Christmas eve. My Dad and I brace the monsoon last night to get us some Chinese and boy was it good!
-Opening one present on Christmas eve. Although in recent years we have been needing to be somewhere early on Christmas day, so we are opening presents on Christmas eve so we can sleep in a little (my family loves our sleep!) Then we have Santa pressies in the morning.
- Then when the whole family gets together we play that white elephant game and steal presents from each other. Nothing says Christmas like the look on your cousin's face when you just pried a present out of their hands.
- And in recent years, an on slew of J. Crew clothes. :)

And look at my boyfriend. Isn't he the cutest thing ever? When he gave me my Christmas present he said, "I picked it out myself." And I open to find the coolest cardigan ever. I kind of love him.

Just Call Me Kitty

No, not the Kitty from X-Men that can walk through walls. A copy kitty. Because if you read this over at Kendi Everyday, you would have been swayed to dress like that it too. I mean, she just made it sound so comfortable. I couldn't resist. And you know what? It was comfortable! But unfortunately I work in retail and nothing is comfortable after 7 hours on your feet except for jammies and your bed. Which I just so happen to be in right now. Jealous? No probably not. Because it is 11:00 and you're probably in bed too. Sigh. I just have to figure out something tomorrow to make you jealous.

December Blues

It was way to hot to be wearing what I wore today. But I woke up and since it is December I didn't think it was necessary to check the weather to make sure the high wasn't 81 degrees. Oops. There was my first mistake. Second was deciding to put on tights and a sweater vest. But I wanted to wear my green tights and I wanted to wear them now dammit! So I did. And I was sweating.

Tonight I'm praying to the weather gods that it will be colder so that I don't have to pull out my summer clothes. Not that my summer clothes ever get put "away" during the winter. This is Texas y'all. Today it could be snowing and tomorrow it could be the Sahara. We'll never know. Texas like to keep us on our toes.

It Was 70 Degrees Outside Today. Oh Texas Weather. You Amaze Me.

You know what I love? Great deals. You see these pants? They were $4. Four dollars! That's a great deal! They are this awesome blue/gray color and since they're not jeans, that means I can wear them to work. Double deal! It makes me happy!

But you know what I hate? Texas weather. Seriously. Why does it change so much? Yesterday I was cold and the heat was on. And today, it was 70 degrees.

Oh a different note, I was reading Visual Basic the other day, and she did a 7 things you don't know about me post because she got tagged in Bea and Ben's 7 things post. And I thought to myself, hey I was tagged in that post too! But apparently I was being super thick--that's British for stupid--and didn't know that meant I was suppose to do a 7 things post. So here it goes. 7 things you don't know about me.

1. Titanic is my favorite movie of ALL TIME. I saw it 14 times in the theater. And yes. That was when I was nine.
2. I'm writing a book. It's a young adult fantasy. And it's super fun!
3. I have a phobia of white socks. But not like I'm going to scream and run away if I see one, just like hey, please don't buy me white socks because I won't wear them kind of way.
4. I have a huge crush on Rupert Grint. Look how cute he is. Don't you just want to pinch his cheeks?
5. I love, love, love to read. Especially young adult. Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments, anything Scott Westerfeld. Amazing.
6. I really like to part my hair in the middle. But my boyfriend hates it and says it looks like a butt.
7. I secretly like Justin Bieber. Shhh...don't tell.

I Make Weird Faces When I Yawn

I'm done! I'm done! I'm done! I can't say it enough. I'm done!

It has been the semester of evil. Pure evil. Think Ursula or Maleficent. But now I'm done. And I can read a book or watch a movie without feeling like I should be writing papers or studying up on who the Valar are in Middle-earth. In fact, I have a nice little stack of books next to my bed waiting to be read. Hehe that rhymed.

This outfit is from yesterday and I really just wanted to wear something fun. Ergo, green tights. They're fun and elf-like. But I debated for a while whether or not my dress was too short to wear to work. And then I thought, if I am having to decide whether or not it is too short, it probably is. So I change, and I ended up liking my outfit I wore to work more than this one. So maybe I'll wear it again soon so you all can see.

And now...and celebration for the end of the semester...

30 For 30 Overview
