My brother, who started out doing some posts on my blog and has since stopped for reasons unknown, has started his own blog. It is Verge Magazine Online. I feel like a proud mama because he has had a dream of doing his own magazine for as long as I can remember. We even made a whole issue of Verge one year just for fun. (We also used to do photoshoots for fun….we weren't normal kids) Now that blogging is a legitimate thing I am super excited for him to start his online magazine.

His "first issue" comes out later tonight, and hopefully sometime later this month you will get to see the article that I wrote in it.

I foresee a lot of collaboration between the two blogs in the future. So everyone go check it out...

New Things

I'm trying a couple of different things today. One: this outfit. But not in the "this is the first time I have worn this outfit kind of way", in the "this is not something I would normally wear kind of way." I have been wanting to wear winter shorts for a while but I never had the courage to do so. Apparently, today I was feeling a little ballsy and decided to try it. I think my first attempt turned out okay. Although I was pretty cold, but there's not much difference between wearing shorts and wearing a dress, warmth wise.

two: see the numbers on my photo? I wanted to do something different to show where my clothes are from. I was getting bored with just listing it at the bottom. So I'm doing this.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream

I love reading Sydney's (The Daybook) Awesome and Awkward Thursdays. Most of the time I find myself laughing and cringing right along with her awkwards. So today I decided to do my own...

Awkward:
- The fact that Sydney had turning your feet in in a photo as an awkward. I do that all the time.
- Having someone say, "hey I'm in that class with you." You are? Oops.
- Noticing that a guy in one of my classes was wearing a $335 Burberry scarf....with sweat pants. Actually, that's just awkward for him.
- Saying you're welcome before someone says thank you. That's the worst.
- Talking wayy too loud on the bus. Sorry y'all.
- Calling Robinson Crusoe a sociopath in class.
-

Awesome:
- Waking up, snuggled next to Chris
- Not working for the next 5 days
- Overhearing someone of the bus say there is 32 days until spring break. NYC here I come!
- Sweet Eugene's cinnamon roles
- Vampire Diaries with my friends tonight. (psst chelsea & chelsey...I'm making enchiladas!)
- The pizza that's in the oven right now.
- The awesome scarf I wore today. Ice cream cone, how cool are you!
- Which reminds me of...making silly jokes with Chris. We passed by Cold Stone last night around 6 and it was closed. There was a note on the door. Our assumption of what it said: "It's freaking cold outside. Go get a hot chocolate."

I Got A Great Surprise Today

It was 9:45 and I was at work, 15 minutes away from closing, and I was super ready to go home. I look over across the room and see a shirt that looks familiar and then I see a face that looks familiar. It's the boyfriend!

He surprised me at work! Which is kind of a big deal because he doesn't live in my town. So he drove all the way up here to see me. Aren't I a lucky girl?

Just Around The River Bend

Okay, don't laugh at me, but I didn't know that Pocahontas didn't marry John Smith. Instead she married some bloke name John Rolfe, who she just so happened to fall in love with after she was kidnapped and held prisoner in Jamestown.

This kind of ruins everything for me. I really love Disney's Pocahontas. But there are so many historical mistakes in that movie it is insane. They probably shouldn't have even called it Pocahontas. They should have called it Avatar....oh right, that's another movie with the same premise.

But all of this knowledge was brought about from my children's literature class. Guess I did actually learn some stuff in college.

On to my outfit...I'm in love with my shoes. I have been eying them at Forever 21 since I finished my 30x30 in the Fall. I finally got them and boy, I couldn't love them more!

High-Waisted Skirts

My brother says I shouldn't wear them anymore. That they're not flattering. He's probably right. Looking through the pictures I took today, I almost agree with him. But I just can't stop wearing them. I love them!

Like this little beauty that I have on. The day after Christmas, my boyfriend took me shopping (adorable, I know). But unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time because I had to be at work. Well, in my hometown they opened up a two-story Forever 21 (which boyfriend just so happens to work at now. I'm lucky. I know) So in my time crush I was frantically grabbing clothes left and right and just when I was about to call it a day, I found this skirt. It called to me.

So now I own the pretty little thing. And no matter what my brother thinks about it. I'm still wearing it. Sorry Zac.

I Have A Reading Obsession

Want to know how many books I've read since school let out in December?

13.

I can't stop. I finish one book and I immediately move on to another. Good thing there is a plethora of books out there to feed my obsession. I just finished The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. Ah-mazing. Dashner's world keeps you on the edge of your seat and has your mind spinning with conspiracy theories against WICKED. Are they good? Are they bad? I don't know. The only bad thing is that my googling skills are lacking to find out with the third book in the trilogy comes out. Luckily for me, I work for a bookstore and can search for things like that in our system.

If all my talk of books is giving you an itch to read, here are a few of my suggestions. Fair warning, they're all teen books.

The Tiger's Curse--just released. And I heard someone say that it is marketed as the new Hunger Games. That should be enough for you to read it right there.

The Maze Runner--the book before The Scorch Trials.

And of course my all time favorite--City of Bones, book 1 of the Mortal Instruments. Anyone else keeping your fingers crossed for Alex Pettyfer to say yes to the movie?

Now...what do I read next?

Yes, This Is The Same Shirt I Wore Yesterday

But there aren't any rules against that. In fact, I think that some people might encourage it. Especially if I was in the middle of a remix challenge---which alas, I am not. Although, Kendi is hosting another one. But considering it is about 40 degrees colder now than it was during the last one, I think this would be more of a challenge, and I'm just going to take it easy this semester.

You know, I'm only taking seven hours. I go to school only on Tuesday and Thursday, which means every weekend is a four day weekend. My grandparents surprised me and got a diamond put in my Aggie Ring. And well, today my friends and I booked our tickets to New York City for Spring Break. I think it's shaping up to be a wonderful semester.

Look! Look! Two Days In A Row!

I'm blogging two days in a row. Pretty cool right? But I really wanted to show my outfit from today. I really liked it. It was conceived last night right before I fell asleep. Those are always my best outfits. The ones made with the last minutes of my conscious mind.

Unfortunately, the weather almost ruined my outfit today. This morning around 8 it was cold, but bearable. But slowly it kept getting colder...and colder...and colder. And now it is a unbearable 36 degrees outside. My velvet blazer wasn't enough but, because sometimes beauty is pain I suffered the cold. Although I did add a lovely, and warm J. Crew scarf.  And of course I had my much beloved Levi's 524 skinny jeans. I always forget how much I love them until I put them on. I would buy myself an army of Levi's 524s if I wasn't on a small price per jeans budget. Ahh sad day.

I Blog For Me...Well, Maybe

If case you haven't noticed I have been a little MIA lately. I have a list of excuses. Ready? I worked all day. My outfit was wrinkled. The weather was bad. The sun went down. Etc. Etc. But other than that list, there was no real reason I haven't blogged. But then I started thinking...wasn't there?

Okay, Cassidy, I said to myself, why aren't you blogging? I figured out was that maybe, kind of, sort of, am not liking what I posting. I feel like it isn't as cool or as good as some of the other fashion blogs that I read and it maybe, kind of, sort of makes me a little sad. I don't have the best template (ah-hem Zac, you're suppose to help me, remember?), I definitely don't have the best photos, considering I take them all myself, and of course because I'm a female, I'm constantly comparing myself to others.

But that doesn't matter right? Because I'm suppose to be blogging for myself, not for everyone else. Well...maybe, kind of, sort of...I don't want  my mom and me to be the only people who read this. We all have a voice and we want it to be heard. Something we learn at a very young age. NO, Mom, I will not eat those carrots. I don't care how good they will make my eyesight. Does it always work? No. But it's worth a shot.

So I continue to keep blogging and tell myself it is just for me. But inside I'm screaming READ ME!

As a side note...I just realized this whole post is very....well petty.

Windy City

It seems that Winter has officially hit Texas. As I speak, the temperature is currently 30 degrees. But according to weather.com it feels like 22, with the crazy wind about. That's cold y'all. I slept with my feet under Captain last night so that my little toesies didn't freeze off. So taking my outfit photos today was a challenge, I don't know how all y'all cold weather fashion bloggers do it.  Because I thought my fingers were about to unionize against  me for putting them through that.

Ahh but what is that saying? Beauty is pain. Or something along those lines. Very true my dear friends, very true.
